  • 1Is it worth transferring to a different college?

I go to a state university right now. Not a bad school, I personally like , but I want to transfer to Kean University. See who travel two hours by train every day , back and forth and I have classes five days a week . In fact it is one way train pain because for some reason the train puts me to sleep and I am very , very lazy and gives me headaches. College is a lot like going to high school and the students seem very vague for a reason. Some students actually sleep in rooms travelers and college is not as . Shows pure laziness. The college I'm going to seem boring and lacks higher education . They do not seem to take seriously the education there. They think it's a joke . I want to major in psychology , but go for my masters in it. One of the students thought it was silly to make a suggestion in this essay and actually called me stupid and retarded. Its horrible in my opinion , and that's not what college is about . I am not a good speaker but I 'm practicing little effort to little.I think Kean is best for me anyway because the trip is only 15 minutes and I think it's better for me to pursue my career and graduate . Student life total is probably much better and the classes are smaller . I think it would be better there as it is a private school .

  • 5College/Transferring help. PLEASE?

I attend Queens College and am a freshman . I have not yet significant . My GPA is a 3.868 . I live in Queens , so my college is not far from me. I kind of want to experience "dorm " college life . My areas of interest are the social sciences (history , sociology , psychology , etc. ) and I was thinking of going to law school later ( maybe) . I was also considering the type of business as well .. Obviously I'm very confused about my career and career goals right now. But I think I know for sure I will not do anything medical .. I do not like science (biology , chemistry, physics , etc . ) I was thinking of staying not too far from home , so I thought of Rutgers and Stony Brook so far .. but I think Stony Brook is a science , so I'm kind of a cross that off my list. Schools in other states that could enjoy dorming which is also close to home ... it might be something important and good for anything important to choose ? Can anyone give me like .. a list or something ? And also like to know if and how I can get scholarships for schools. Thank you very much .

  • 6Transferring college... waste?

I am currently attending a SUNY little known because it is the only college more affordable with the thought that I wanted to do ... Now I want to change my major from psychology - that most schools have . So I was thinking ... Would not it be better if I transfer to a better school if I want to study psychology known ? ( The school currently attending does not have a good psychology department ) The problem is .. I am a sophmore and ... and elected all courses (high above) for next fall already . I can not add courses and other courses because they are full or not available. So I will be paying two years of tuition ( including this autumn) to study things I do not study ! Would not that be a waste ? ? If I transfer to SUNY Binghamton , I get no credit equivalence which means I have to start all the way from the beginning .. liek a freshman which means you will have to stay 4 + years in Binghamton ... and 4 + years of paying tuition ... ! plz any advice ?

  • 7Question about college transferring?

Is it pointless to get an associates degree in liberal arts when I plan on continuing to get a bachelor's degree in psychology immediately after graduating with the AA? I'm trying to decide whether or not to wait 'till next fall to transfer or just skip the AA and transfer in the spring. here's a little background: I am currently at a community college and will graduate in the spring 2013 with an AA. My original plan was to go to a university in the fall 2013 to get my bachelors. but I no longer see the point in waiting for the AA when the bachelors is what I really want anyways. Eventually i'll even end up going for my masters.

  • 10College/Debt/Transferring Home?

Okay, so I'm a college freshman , currently attending my best public university status . The school is a good fit for me academically and the city is amazing . My problem is that if I stay here , I will be graduating with a minimum of $ 20K in federal loan debt . My original plan was to have my degree in psychology here and then go to college in my hometown for the master's degree , so I could be a kind of counselor / therapist . But now I'm starting to consider the option of moving back home to get my bachelor's and master both there at a cheaper cost . I imagine the money you save can go towards the rent of my parents ( I'm going to be living with them ) , travel , and especially get a car because they do not have one. My mom wants me to stay here , as it is much more prestigious than the hometown school , but do not know if it's worth the prestige of debt. I will definitely finish my year and compare aid packages in the summer , but how do you like it? Given what I do, I transferred home to save money and graduate with less debt ? Or should I stay with the best "fit " college and graduate with debts ? I would not mind coming home if it meant being closer to my family and to help them financially . I just need some advice as to what is the best decision . Also, my credits will transfer easily and school homecoming is not selective at all, although it is a program of honor. Thank you !

  • 11Transferring to the University of Michigan from community college?

Hello, I hope to be able to apply as a transfer student at Michigan for the fall semester 2013. I am currently attending a local community college, and have decided to work my way up to 60 credits before applying to Michigan, Michigan State, New York University, and several other schools. Last semester was very hard for me. My own courses were not very difficult - so happened that I was distracted by work, and ended up jumping a large number of classes. My 4.0 GPA is likely to fall to around 3.5 or 3.6, but I've done the math and I'm positive I can get it back to around 3.83 by the time my transfer applications will be due. Aside from maintaining good grades for next summer, fall and spring semesters, what I can do to make me a better candidate? Here's some information: - My high school GPA was terrible. I think I had a 2.86, although it was on the honor roll for the better part of my senior year. - ACT score of 28. I had a 35 in reading and English 34, but do not work well on my math section because of my terrible study habits and absenteeism undocumented. - I have sat on the board of a student organization at Michigan State University - I've been involved with several other student organizations at Michigan State, each for over a year - I volunteered at the emergency department of a local hospital for four years, and can get some recommendations - which often made the guidelines for the program now defunct teen volunteers and several groups of Michigan State - I fenced for six years, figure skated for three, and have been forced to basically Theater on Ice (I'll leave after this summer) - President's List and Dean's List for my first semester of college, probably nothing this semester, but I'm sure it will pick up again. I had a temporary problem, and I know I can not afford any more mistakes - I worked at McDonalds for several months, and have been used with another company for about a year I'm trying to be a volunteer in the department of pathology at a morgue in another city. My local hospital will not let me on his show, and I have a juvenile record (which is when I was 14 - has not prevented me from getting any results, and most universities have said that there should be a great problem). As you can tell, I've made quite a few bad decisions as a child. What I can do to make myself a better candidate? My grades should be good, but I know I have a bit of baggage in the form of a disc, and lower grades in school. I have thought about retaking the ACT. Any more advice? I double major in physics and psychology (I know it's a strange combination. Want to go to medical school, and am strongly opposed to the selection of a top for comfort. If I go to college and reapply , so be it. I'm not going to be another human bio pre-med).

  • 12Should I go to community college before transferring to a good university??

I know this has been done before, but this situation is different . Finally I want to go far to attend the U of Michigan Ann Arbor to get a masters ( or PhD ) in Organizational Psychology - because they have the above program ( I've heard) . I want all my first credits of the first form , but ( to save the bank , of course ) . I could go to college in my town to get my degree in psychology , but also could get my degree in my city CC . The only issue is that CC is better classified my city in the state , while the university of my city is very normal. Would it be better for future transfer if I can get my degree from a CC very good or average college ? ? ? I know I will do my best to get good grades everywhere I go because I 'm kind of a nerd . thanks
