  • 1Why does Coffee or Caffeine Cause Depression and a Painful Feeling of Mental Slump for 10-12 hours a day?

I've been an avid coffee drinker for over 17 years. But recently, coffee has been making my brain feel numb pretty much throughout the working day and optional shifts. What's wrong with me? Or is it the coffee I'm drinking that's causing this adverse reaction? I get most of my beverages from my workplace or the local coffee shop. One of my colleagues who is into energy drinks too has been complaining of headaches of late. Could it be stress? Too much coffee? Late night work + red bull? I wonder what the reason could be.

I have 21 years and all my life I have had problems with self-esteem and social anxiety , but not so great an extent in that I could work and live a normal life . I've been drinking coffee for years and I do not really affect anything until a year ago . University became very hectic for me and I was very wrong in my courses and I suddenly realized what I began to harbor negative attitudes toward me and began to constantly belittle everything I did . I was so exhausted and nauseous in the morning and could not concentrate in school . I found something online about how apples are better than caffeine stimulants like sugar will get you alert and focused . Although I was skeptical about this, I decided to give it a try and caffeine eliminated in favor of the fruit. In doing so , I have noticed drastic changes in the way I feel and while I still lack confidence and suffer from some social anxiety , I think my mind clings to these negative feelings . When these thoughts come , just stick around for a while and then are replaced by my mind convinces me that you can and will succeed in whatever I do if I try . In the past I used to wake up scared and dreading the day ahead but now those thoughts I could not think anything . So you think that caffeine had a role in all this ? I remember I sent a query here in the past about my self-esteem and social anxiety problems and someone said here that needs help and should seek out a therapist because I was a

  • 3Anyone else have depression or anxiety and helped by caffeine?

I have either schizo-affective (schizophrenia with depression) or major depressive disorder, and then social anxiety disorder. Most of the time I feel unmotivated and severely negative and pessimistic. A lot of the times when I drink caffeine I'll feel less socially anxious and suddenly very positive, cheerful, confident and ambitious. I thought it was the other way around. Someone suggested I might have ADHD, which apparently is helped by caffeine.

I'm thinking of joining the Air Force. I have a degree in music and I was thinking of the Officer Candidate School , but I'm sure if my title is competitive enough to get into OCS . One can obtain and use student loans to a higher rank. I'm thinking about mental health because I have two years of my degree in psychology and this would help supplement training in the field . My other options would be linguists , law enforcement, special investigations , or diet therapy . Thanks for the help .

  • 8Can you help me with my painful calfs and feet? :'(?

Ill try keep this as simple as possible. About me: - age:17 - sex: female - Smoke regularly and drink occasionally. - Other than two occurrences, nothing else running in the family. My mum's brother also had bad legs like mine, when he was young, younger than me, and the doctors put that down to growing pains. my dads sister had bad legs in her 20s and had to have surgery to relieve it. This was due to a bone disease or so i am aware. Symptoms: - Cramping pain in the calf, foot, thigh and the back of the knee. - sometimes is eased by walking. - can be pins and needles sometimes, or could be shotting pains. - legs feel very heavy. - Feet and legs are cold all the time. - when i get out of the bath, my feet swell and are bright red, i get a pins and needles pain straight away. (even when the baths luke warm) - i have to lay on my side, with a pillow inbetween my legs in bed for it to be moderate pain, but ecute enough for me to sleep. - Achy dull feeling. - before this started happening i would feel faint all the time, but never fainted apart from one occasion. Doctors stuff: - had blood tests with nothing ab-normal showing. - been to the hospital but no one seems to know what it is. - had a x-ray on my back to rule out sciatica. nothing was shown ab normal in the x-ray, - took pain killers, and heat rubs, nothing seems to work. Please help. if you've had this, or someone you know, or your a doctor and know what this is, please anything will help!

  • 10What's a mental disorder that has feeling dull, slightly emotionless, apathetic, tired, etc, as a symptom(s)?

I was talking to my doctor a while ago, and found it hard to describe what I was feeling. They took some tests on my blood and found nothing wrong, so I was referred to a psychiatrist. I considered saying that I was sad, but that didn't feel right to me. Dull (etc) seems to match it right. I've felt like this for a very long time, and it worsened everyday. It's rendered me almost completely nonfunctional (if you understand what I mean by that). I want to get an idea of something that might be bothering me. What I said before isn't everything, but just what I feel the most of. What are a few conditions (mental) that have what I said as their symptoms? I know I might not have a mental disorder, but I can't stop worrying about it, so I just want to get information.
