  • 3Raf intelligence officer vs raf police officer vs public protection masters degree?

Hey guys , I'm new to this site please nice :) I am a student of criminology and psychology , about to graduate ( two weeks from now ) . I've offered a good year for combating racism and victimization organizations , and one of my practices is also based volunteering in a Crown Court and I like to think I have a decent understanding of the law . well , I recently trained with G4 and am to be part of the Olympic security team this summer . My question here is what would be the next best move ? While the three options of interest to me , I can not really decide whether to continue my career with the RAF ( after some research , the RAF sounds better then the regular army or navy , sorry if I'm stepping on any toes feet ) , or try to push further my cv with a master's degree ( many more people are getting higher grades ) On the other hand , if I leave education , and applied to the RAF , which would be a better career choice for someone like me , intelligence officer or a police officer ? I really do not care manifest hatred that comes with the option of police , and I want a sense that I 'm somehow contributing . However, the idea of being away from home for months at a time is something that is being reduced this appeal . please help ! preferably someone with experience in one or more of the above areas ? thanks guys

  • 4Which career choice would suit me more? Intelligence Officer or Police Officer?

Ok, right now I'm a 15 year old teenager and my business teacher told me that it is time to start thinking about what you want to do in your future. So I came down to two choices: Police Officer and Intelligence Officer (aka: Spy) Here's the pros and cons of Police: Pro - Get to see ur family more - Way higher pay (Possible over 100K) - Get to legally carry firearms (We dont get CCW in Canada) Cons - Dangerous - Extremely strict rules to follow - Report Writing Intelligence Officer: Pros - the lifestyle (the undercover thing) - Rewarding - The feeling of national Pride - Get to protect your country - Non-literate license to kill (foreign missions) Also, not that I want to kill someone, but it would benefit in the case that you really do have no choice but to pull the trigger Cons: - No weapons (CSIS: Canada's CIA) except in dangerous foreign territory - Can be sent anywhere all over the world for months at a time - Lower pay (from 40K to 70K) - Having to leave family for a while. Ok, I think I can be qualified in both fields of work as I currently study psychology, law, computer programming/comm tech at my high school, and most likely I would take Law or Psychology or Forensics in University. Would this game plan work? - Become a Police Officer after graduating University - Continue studying while being a cop - Work a few years, get promoted to Detective - Work Detective for a while and apply for CSIS - IF CSIS accepts my application, then go for their interview. - If I pass, join them and find a cover story as to why I switched jobs. So which one is more right for me? BTW, I am not some adrenaline-pumped teenager who has watched one too many 007 Bond films or CSI: Miami. I want a career that is fast-paced, exciting, (The occasional bore does not matter) and rewarding, but yet at the same time, I don't think I can leave family for long-term (Months is ok, but not years though) Which career field seems more right for me? Thank You in advance

  • 5Did you choose enlisted over officer in the Air Force? Or go from enlisted to officer?

I am currently enlisted ( E -3) in the Air Force and have thought about putting in a package for the officer , but I'm not sure if it's right for me . Now I have a BA in Psychology . I know that , obviously , the officers are paid more , but are advantages of remaining centers enrolled more official ? Perhaps less BS to deal with ? Or is the official way to go if you have your degree ?

  • 7If I want to be a police officer what should I major in?

I am looking to be a police officer in New York . I have not decided if I want to be a deputy or a state trooper . Either way I want to be a police officer and I'm not sure what should I study ? I am currently in college to get my associates in criminal justice , but I'm told I should try to go for something more . Now I do not know if I've wasted my time as I am a semester away from getting my associates degree in criminal justice . If I go to a four year school I completely change my major or a minor is in good psychology .

  • 12My dad wants me to become a correctional officer?

My father has been on my case about getting a job since I graduated three months ago . I have a job now . My father is a correctional officer and I arrange an interview to become one . I passed the test and went to the interview . All I have to do now is to wait 45 days to process my things to go to training and get paid for it. So I'm waiting . I go to school for psychology so this can help me a lot. Afraid I have this job because I do not know what to expect . I have only 18 years and prisoners are twice my age and twice my size and I know that if you show any signs of inmates afraid you're wrong . My father has been so happy since I bought it and let me do what all day now . I know that the job will pay well starting from $ 2000 a month , but I'm scared because I do not know what will happen. This is a good job right from high school . As his career . I just want to have a normal job to go to school . I know it would be a bit stupid to let a job like this . How I can talk to my father about it in a way that does not make him mad ?
