QWhats the difference between a psy.d and a phd?

I'm a freshman in college and I'm majoring in Psychology . I want to be a child psychologist , so I wonder what would be better to get it? is one more than the other ? and also how many years it will take 4th degree?

There is a lot of information at apa.org regarding careers in psychology. You will need a minimum of a master's degree, preferably a Ph.D. So a minimum of two years of grad school. A Ph.D. is still more respected than a Psy.D. (read apa.org). Good luck to you! (psychology professor)
