Hi all, I am currently in my third year of my psychology studies at an Australian university . It surprised me that almost everything we know is related to work , and I would have no idea what I was doing when I was told to apply my skills and knowledge to work . I can not even see how it would apply what they 've learned to a career as a psychologist ( my goal ) . I understand that becoming a psychologist requires additional training , but still. What we learn is mostly theoretical . So far , we have covered the following units : Psychology Psychology A, B Psychology , Biological Psychology Lifespan Development , Social Psychology , Psychology of Learning , Theories of Personality , psychological assessment , cognitive psychology and abnormal psychology . We also covered a large amount of statistics. Abnormal Psychology Besides , I can not see how any of these apply to work as a psychologist or work of any kind . Do not know where to begin if I had to work as a psychologist . Why not learn job-related skills in the Bachelor's Degree in Psychology ? It is what we learn to work as a psychologist useful - at all? If so , how? What is the meaning of what we are learning ? It seems irrelevant. Thank you !
